Is it simply a question of "choosing" not to participate or for many is it the lack of affordable, high speed internet? There are still a lot of areas of this country where either the investment in infrastructure has not been made or it is too expensive. As the internet becomes more of a necessity, for education, access to government forms and information, etc. there needs to be public policy to support it. There are some important policy suggestions at http://www.speedmatters.org.

I'm not completely happy with the functionality of the homepage gadget. There is no way to mark things as unread.

I maintain a lot of shared-tags for the purpose of creating multiple feed-blogs. If I see a development article that I like, I tag it 'shared-development'. I'm still working on how to share my feeds but that is beside the point.

So, I'm reading through my feeds with the reader gadget and I see an article I like. I want to edit the tags right then and there, but I can't go that. If I go directly to the reader page, that article is difficult to find right off the bat, because it's been tagged read. So, I have to switch my view to view all and comb through.

My next best option is to star the article, then go to my stared items in the main reader, edit the tags and unstar. Pain...bottom line. The gadget is nice for keeping an eye on "the feed," especially if you use your homepage as a dashboard like me. But if you are trying to actively read and follow-up on your articles, the gadget kind of falls short. Keep up the good work though. It's a great idea.
